Justice Ginsburg Outdoor Memorial Attendance Sparks Public Backlash
[Asia Economy New York=Correspondent Baek Jong-min] U.S. President Donald Trump attended an outdoor memorial event for Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, known as a 'progressive icon,' but was met with harsh criticism from citizens who shouted, "Let's oust him through the election."
On the 24th (local time) around 10 a.m., President Trump visited the Supreme Court with First Lady Melania to witness the public display of Justice Ginsburg's casket outside. The schedule for President Trump that day had been announced in advance.
As Ginsburg's casket was moved outside and President Trump appeared, the citizens gathered outside the Supreme Court shouted slogans in unison. Chants of "Let's oust him" and "Let's oust him through the election" filled the area around the Supreme Court.
President Trump, wearing a black mask, stood briefly before leaving the scene. Amid Democratic opposition, President Trump had previously announced that he would reveal the successor to Justice Ginsburg on the 26th.
The day before, President Trump mentioned the need to quickly appoint the ninth Supreme Court justice for the November election ruling, hinting at the possibility of rejecting the election results.
