Gyeongbuk Province and Daegu City Join Hands for 'So (Consumer) So (So Hanwoo)' Festival

Drive-Thru Hanwoo Sale Up to 50% Off at Daegu Stadium from 24th to 26th

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Dong-wook] Gyeongsangbuk-do announced on the 23rd that, as part of non-face-to-face Chuseok holiday celebrations, it will hold a 'Hanwoo Beef Drive-Thru Promotion Event' at the Daegu Stadium Taeguk Square for three days from the 24th to the 26th in cooperation with Daegu City.

This event is hosted by the Hanwoo Self-Governing Fund Management Committee, Daegu City, and Gyeongsangbuk-do, and organized by the Korea Hanwoo Association Daegu-Gyeongbuk Branch and the Nonghyup Gyeongbuk Regional Headquarters.

Six regional livestock cooperatives from Daegu and Gyeongbuk (Daegu, Gyeongju, Gimcheon, Gyeongsan, Andong-Bonghwa, and Yecheon) and the Hanwoo Association will sell Hanwoo beef for grilling, soup cuts, bulgogi, minced meat, and by-products at prices discounted by at least 30-50% compared to market prices. Due to concerns over the resurgence of COVID-19, the event will be operated exclusively as a drive-thru. The organizers plan to provide drive-in theater tickets on a first-come, first-served basis to customers who purchase Hanwoo beef worth more than 200,000 KRW on the 24th and 25th to offer citizens an enjoyable experience.

Kim Sam-ju, head of the Korea Hanwoo Association Daegu-Gyeongbuk Branch, said, "As the movement to send agricultural, livestock, and fishery products as Chuseok gifts is spreading due to the recent impact of COVID-19 and typhoon damage, we expect an increase in customers using reliable Hanwoo gifts. We have prepared this event so that consumers can purchase Hanwoo beef at affordable prices in response to the national love for Hanwoo."

Governor Lee Cheol-woo said, "For this Chuseok holiday, to practice safe and warm social distancing that protects myself, my family, and the community, we have prepared a special Hanwoo beef sale event in cooperation with Daegu City through a 'non-face-to-face drive-thru.' Although we cannot be physically together with family and relatives due to COVID-19, let us welcome a safe and abundant Chuseok with hearts closer than ever."
