Government Economic Policy at a Glance... KDI Launches Time Series Service Portal

[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] The Korea Development Institute (KDI) announced on the 21st that it has launched the "Economic Policy Time Series Service Comprehensive Portal," which organizes major economic policy information from the 1990s to the present in chronological order.

Through this service, users can access not only government press releases from the past 30 years but also materials related to economic policies from relevant ministries, the media, and academia. This allows users to understand the background of the policies at the time and the reactions from various sectors of society.

The service enhances accessibility through time series services categorized by topics of interest, ministries, and issues. For example, if you want to search for past real estate policies, you can select in order from Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Real Estate, to the Housing Market on the portal to view policies by year at a glance.

Going forward, KDI plans to expand the scope to include economic policy materials from before the 1990s, starting from the establishment of the Republic of Korea government, by discovering cross-ministerial economic policy data and digitizing related materials to expand the service. To provide customized services for users, KDI will also promote the linkage of data across domains, policy case studies, and the production of secondary materials such as policy data collections and multimedia resources.

Seo Junghae, Director of the KDI Economic Information Center, stated, "Economic policy information that had been scattered here and there has been consolidated through the comprehensive time series service portal," adding, "We hope this platform will allow not only policy officials but also the general public to easily view the flow of policies at a glance."
