Seoul Arts Center Performance Video Euro Streaming Service Launch

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Byung-hee] The Seoul Arts Troupe is launching a paid streaming service for performance videos.

The Seoul Arts Troupe announced on the 2nd that it will stream the creative musical 'Lost Face 1895,' performed last July, on the 'Naver TV Sponsorship Live' channel on the 28th and 29th for a fee. The performance video features Cha Ji-yeon, Kim Yong-han, Choi Jung-soo, Shin Sang-eon, Kim Geon-hye, and Kang Sang-jun.

On October 8th and 9th, the Seoul Arts Troupe will stream the paid video of 'Along with the Gods_The Afterlife,' which was scheduled for this year but canceled due to the spread of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19). This is a live recording of the 2018 performance featuring Jo Hyung-kyun, Jung Won-young, Seo Kyung-soo, Choi Jung-soo, Lee Hye-soo, and Kang Sang-jun.

Additionally, the troupe plans to stream the performance featuring Park Hae-na and Park Young-soo from this year's 'Lost Face 1895' in October.

In April, the Seoul Arts Troupe introduced 'Channel SPAC,' an online streaming service of its performances on Naver TV to comfort audiences weary from COVID-19. At that time, four selected works?'Blue Eyes Park Yeon,' 'Early Spring Late Winter,' 'Chilseo,' and 'Geumranbang'?were streamed for free based on audience votes.

The Seoul Arts Troupe explained, "As a national public arts organization, we aim to pilot paid video streaming, which is emerging in the performance industry, to protect the rights of creators involved in video production and to explore the potential of performance video as a new way to experience performances." They added, "Through the previous online streaming, we confirmed active audience interest and demand for performance videos. We plan to research and attempt various non-face-to-face viewing methods to connect with audiences in the COVID era."

To ensure a high-quality result, the troupe conducted high-definition filming of 'Lost Face 1895,' performed last July, using nine 4K cameras including a Jimmy jib. With diverse angles such as full shots, bust shots, close-ups, and extreme close-ups, along with 5.1 channel sound mixing, it is expected to provide viewers with a new experience. They made every effort to produce vivid and rich video so that viewing through video could expand to theater attendance.

The online streaming of 'Lost Face 1895' will be screened on the 28th and 29th at 7:30 PM via Naver TV Sponsorship Live, and viewers can replay it for three hours after the streaming ends. Following 'Lost Face 1895' and 'Along with the Gods_The Afterlife,' the Seoul Arts Troupe plans to sequentially screen about four other representative repertoires.
