[Concall] SK Telecom "Generating 200 Billion KRW in 3 Years Through 5G Cloud-Based B2B"

[Asia Economy Reporter Seulgina Jo] SK Telecom announced that its 5G cloud-based B2B business will create business opportunities worth more than 200 billion KRW in three years.

On the 6th, during a conference call held after the Q2 earnings announcement, SK Telecom stated, "5G Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) for corporate customers is scheduled to be commercialized by the end of this year after a pilot service in the second half."

They added, "We are also working to discover new corporate models by negotiating the construction of dedicated 5G networks with SK Hynix, Samsung Electronics, POSCO, and others," explaining, "Through 5G cloud-based B2B, business opportunities worth 200 billion KRW will be created in three years."

Meanwhile, SK Telecom, the first among the three domestic telecom companies to announce Q2 earnings, recorded consolidated financial statements showing sales of 4.6028 trillion KRW and operating profit of 359.5 billion KRW. This represents increases of 3.7% and 11.4%, respectively, compared to the same period last year, exceeding market expectations.
