Gwanak Youth Center Construction, Creation of Walkable Dorimcheon Stream, and Other Major Campaign Projects Gain Momentum... 13.6 Billion KRW Special Grant Secured for 37 Projects Including Nakseong Venture Valley Expansion in the 7th Local Government Term
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Junhee) has secured 2.1 billion KRW in special grants from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to promote local projects and create a pleasant and safe living environment for residents.
Through this special grant, Gwanak-gu will actively proceed with four projects: ▲ Construction of Gwanak Youth Center (900 million KRW) ▲ Creation of Walkable Dorimcheon Stream (800 million KRW) ▲ Installation of new security CCTV cameras (300 million KRW) ▲ Installation of convenience facilities at bus stops (100 million KRW).
The projects include building the Youth Center, a spatial platform supporting youth activities as future leaders, and redeveloping Dorimcheon Stream into a place where clear water and green forests coexist, allowing anyone to walk and enjoy the area, all aimed at enhancing residents' happiness.
The ‘Gwanak Youth Center’ will serve as a comprehensive support space for youth employment, jobs, psychological counseling, and community support, laying the foundation for youth and the city to grow together.
Dorimcheon Stream, the lifeline of Gwanak-gu, will undergo various projects such as ecological landscape improvement, creation of walking trails, installation of landscape lighting, and cultural and artistic spaces, transforming it into a healing space where anyone can rest and enjoy beautiful nature.
In particular, the Walkable Dorimcheon Stream project is expected to create great synergy as it is promoted alongside the ‘Starlight Sinsari Commercial Renaissance’ project, which aims to revitalize the area around Sillim Station as a representative commercial district of Seoul.
Additionally, the special grant includes projects for installing security CCTV for crime prevention and installing windbreaks and heating/cooling devices at bus stop boarding areas, contributing to a more pleasant and safer Gwanak.
To overcome poor financial conditions, Mayor Park Junhee has continuously made efforts since the start of the 7th local government term, including meeting with the Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and securing a budget of 1.5 billion KRW to expand startup support facilities in Nakseong Venture Valley, resulting in a total of 13.6 billion KRW in special grants for 37 projects to date.
Mayor Park Junhee stated, “Securing this special grant will contribute to making Gwanak a better place to live where everyone can be happy and safe together,” and added, “I will continue to actively work to secure external funding so that the major projects promised to residents proceed without delay.”
