According to U.S. media on the 4th (local time), a fire broke out at a warehouse on the Beirut waterfront, followed by a massive explosion. The blast was powerful enough to shake the roofs of buildings located at a considerable distance. As a result of the explosion, most windows within a 10km radius were shattered.

Houses and offices, as well as vehicles passing by or parked nearby, suffered significant damage. The blast was so powerful that vehicles driving on the road were flipped over by the shockwave.
According to videos shared by locals on social media, immediately after the explosion, a large mushroom cloud and an enormous bubble jet engulfed the surrounding area.

AP News reported that the scale of casualties is still unknown, many people were injured by broken glass shards, and numerous individuals have collapsed on the streets. As patients flood in, hospitals are requesting blood donations.
The news agency added that the cause of the explosion is not yet known.
The U.S. government is aware of the unusual scale of the explosion and is closely monitoring the situation. CNBC reported that a senior official from the Trump administration said, "We have seen reports of the explosion and are closely observing the situation."
