Justice Network: "Gwak Sang-do's Unfilial Political Scheme Against Deceased Shelter Director"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] The Justice Memory Solidarity (Jeonguiyeon) strongly reacted against Gwak Sang-do, a member of the United Future Party, who raised questions about the circumstances of the death of Son, the director of the shelter "Peace Our Home" in Mapo-gu, Seoul, calling it a "disgraceful political conspiracy."

On the afternoon of the 11th, Jeonguiyeon issued a statement pointing out, "The contents of Representative Gwak's press conference and press release seriously damage the honor of the deceased and Jeonguiyeon."

On the same day, Representative Gwak held a press conference at the National Assembly Communication Office, specifically mentioning the circumstances when Son's body was found and insisted, "The exact cause of death must be clarified."

Jeonguiyeon criticized, "Using the status of a member of the National Assembly to obtain information related to the death circumstances, disclosing unnecessary information that only the bereaved family should know, and using it to spread conspiracy theories." They added, "It is an inhumane and disgraceful act that degrades the death and corpse of the deceased into 'curiosity' and 'spectacle' for political purposes."

Jeonguiyeon also rebutted Gwak's statement that "There is a Twitter post recently circulating on the internet claiming that Yoon Mi-hyang, a member of the Democratic Party and former chairperson of Jeonguiyeon, used Son's personal account to collect condolence money for comfort woman victim Lee Soon-deok," saying, "It is inevitable to see a causal relationship between personal account donations and (Son's) death." They clarified, "When the late Lee passed away in 2017, it was decided through the Jeongdaehyeop Executive Board resolution to receive condolence money into the deceased's account, and it was later settled."

They further stated, "The deceased suffered due to the prosecution's seizure of the shelter and inhumane investigative behavior and passed away," emphasizing, "Even after the death of the deceased, false information dissemination, insults, and defamation are being carried out by a member of the National Assembly, which is deeply distressing and tragic." They also demanded Representative Gwak to "stop the disgraceful political conspiracy and sincerely apologize to the deceased and Jeonguiyeon."
