[Asia Economy Reporter Ryu Jeong-min] President Moon Jae-in is expected to appoint Koo Yoon-cheol, the 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, as the Minister-level Chief Secretary for Policy Coordination.
The Blue House announced on the 8th the personnel results for one Minister-level position including the new Chief Secretary for Policy Coordination Koo Yoon-cheol, two Vice Minister-level positions, and one Deputy Minister position. Kang Min-seok, the Blue House spokesperson, stated, "We plan to officially appoint one Minister-level, one Deputy Minister, and two Vice Minister-level officials as early as tomorrow," adding, "Koo Yoon-cheol, the Chief Secretary for Policy Coordination, has accumulated expertise in policy planning and coordination across various fields."
The 1st Vice Chief Secretary for Policy Coordination was appointed as Choi Chang-won, the Economic Coordination Officer of the Office for Government Policy Coordination. The 2nd Vice Chief Secretary was appointed as Moon Seung-wook, the Vice Governor for Economy of Gyeongsangnam-do Province. The 2nd Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance was appointed as Ahn Il-hwan, the Budget Officer of the Ministry of Economy and Finance.
Chief Secretary Koo graduated from Daegu Youngshin High School and Seoul National University with a degree in Economics, holds a Master's degree in Public Policy from the University of Wisconsin, USA, and a Ph.D. in Business Administration from Chung-Ang University. He has served as Budget Officer, General Budget Review Officer, and Director of Policy Coordination at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He passed the 32nd Administrative Examination.
1st Vice Chief Secretary Choi graduated from Gwanak High School in Seoul and Korea University with a degree in Business Administration, holds a Master's degree from the Graduate School of Policy Science at Saitama University, Japan, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from the University of Seoul. He has served as General Planning Officer and Social Welfare Policy Officer at the Office for Government Policy Coordination. He passed the 36th Administrative Examination.
2nd Vice Chief Secretary Moon graduated from Seongdong High School in Seoul and Yonsei University with a degree in Economics, holds a Master's degree in Public Administration from Seoul National University and Harvard University, USA. He served as Director of Industrial Innovation and Growth at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy. He passed the 33rd Administrative Examination.
2nd Vice Minister Ahn graduated from Masan High School in Gyeongnam and Seoul National University with a degree in Trade, holds a Master's degree in Economics from the University of Ottawa, Canada, and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Catholic University. He has served as General Budget Review Officer and spokesperson at the Ministry of Economy and Finance. He passed the 32nd Administrative Examination.
