[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Min Jun-young] Comedian Moon Gyu-bak revealed anecdotes related to his business failures.
On the 5th, comedian Moon Gyu-bak appeared on KBS 2TV's entertainment program 'Stand Up' and shared updates about his recent life.
Moon Gyu-bak said, "It's been a while since I shared my updates," and opened up by saying, "I am the 'minus hand' of the business world."
He said, "I have been running businesses, but they often failed," adding, "I started a Taiwanese King Castella business, but the day before the opening, a 'food file' incident involving Castella occurred, followed by a surge in egg prices, which eventually led to closing down."
He continued, "After that, I received a handmade burger recipe and changed my business, which became a big hit," but "just then, a major franchise faced a hamburger disease outbreak, so I couldn't get any goodwill payment and had to leave the building."
He also confessed, "I tried to start a Japanese Izakaya, but the Japanese boycott movement broke out, and the Hongdae Pocha I took over recently closed due to the novel coronavirus infection, so I am only paying rent."
Moon Gyu-bak added, "Due to business stress, I ate a lot and gained weight, then I got a call," saying, "I received a health care business proposal called 'Before After Damja' and gained even more weight, but that person became unreachable. I found out they fled overseas."
However, he said, "Still, I did not lose people," and expressed gratitude, "Thankful to the friend who gifted me a car that I was worried about reselling because I had no money and gave me a car that wouldn't sell at all, thankful to the friend who taught me about stocks, and thankful to the friend who provided meals at the convenience store."
