[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] The Daejeon city government is launching an investigation into reinfection among individuals who have recovered from the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19).
The city announced on the 9th that it will investigate whether recovered COVID-19 patients have been reinfected by the 10th. This proactive investigation is being conducted in response to the nationwide increase in cases of reinfection among recovered patients.
As of 8 a.m. on the same day in Daejeon, a total of 39 people have been confirmed positive for COVID-19, and 20 patients have recovered so far. Among them, 18 recovered patients whose registered residential addresses are in Daejeon (released from quarantine) will be the subjects of the reinfection investigation.
First, the city plans to have the reinfection investigation subjects voluntarily visit nearby public health centers to undergo testing for reinfection. For those who find it difficult to visit, diagnostic testing will be conducted through mobile specimen collection visits.
Additionally, if any recovered patient tests positive again during the examination, they will be immediately hospitalized, and contact tracing will be conducted to place contacts under self-quarantine.
A city official stated, "Cases of reinfection among recovered patients are continuously occurring nationwide," and added, "Considering this situation, the city will enable local recovered patients to undergo diagnostic testing to confirm whether reinfection has occurred."
