Wildfire in Cheongsong, Gyeongbuk... 22 Helicopters Deployed to Extinguish Fire in About 6 Hours

[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] At around 11:15 a.m. on the 8th, a fire of unknown cause broke out in the state-owned forest in Ongjeom-ri, Pacheon-myeon, Cheongsong-gun, Gyeongbuk.

Forestry authorities and Cheongsong-gun deployed 22 helicopters and over 500 personnel to extinguish the fire, successfully controlling the major blaze by around 6:05 p.m. The forestry authorities plan to continue stationing firefighting personnel at the site to conduct mop-up operations in preparation for any flare-ups.

Forestry authorities and Cheongsong-gun reported that approximately 5 hectares of forestland were burned in the fire, and they are investigating the exact cause of the blaze.
