[Asia Economy Reporter Yang Nak-gyu] "I am proud of you for doing your best at every moment and fulfilling your role well, and I support you to return healthy."
Woo Miji (26), the fianc?e of Sergeant Park Jaeyeon (28), who is carrying out COVID-19 response duties in Daegu while postponing their wedding preparations, sent a video letter containing these words.
The Air Force is conducting a campaign to deliver video letters from family, friends, and loved ones to encourage and support soldiers dedicated to preventing the spread of COVID-19 and fulfilling airspace defense missions.
Ms. Woo sent a letter to Sergeant Park, who has been performing patient transport and supply delivery duties at the Nam-gu Public Health Center in Daegu from the 26th of last month to the 24th of this month. Sergeant Park replied, "Thank you for respecting my choice when I volunteered for the dispatch mission to Daegu, even postponing our wedding," and added, "I will do my best to complete the mission and return healthy."
The Air Force explained that the video letter campaign was launched to boost the morale of soldiers who are accumulating fatigue and stress due to prolonged restrictions on leave and outings caused by COVID-19. Anyone can participate in the campaign by recording a video within one minute using a smartphone or other device, writing the recipient soldier’s unit and name, and sending it via email (afcmct@korea.kr). The Air Force selects letters with special stories from the received videos and posts them on the official Air Force social media services (SNS). Videos not selected are delivered to the respective soldiers via the Air Force intranet email.
