[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Suwan] A 93-year-old grandmother from Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, who was confirmed to have the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19), was declared fully recovered after 13 days. She is the oldest among the 2,909 recovered patients in the country.
According to Gyeongsan City on the 22nd, Ms. A, who was residing in the communal living facility of Chamjoeun Senior Nursing Home, was confirmed positive for COVID-19 on the 7th.
After the diagnosis, Ms. A was transferred to a medical institution in Seoul, where she received intensive care for 13 days and was declared fully recovered on the 21st before returning home.
Ms. A underwent diagnostic tests twice, on the 10th and 12th, both of which confirmed negative results.
In particular, even after testing negative, Ms. A continued to experience pneumonia symptoms and received antibiotic treatment, but reportedly did not have any fever symptoms.
Ms. A also had dementia symptoms but was known to have no other underlying diseases.
Meanwhile, as of this day, Gyeongsan City has reported 584 confirmed cases, with 9 deaths and 177 recoveries.
