Incheon TP Supports 200 Million KRW for Logistics Robots and 50 Million KRW for Entertainment Robots
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon Technopark (Incheon TP) is launching support for the "Specialized Robot Commercialization" project to help grow the local robotics industry.
This project aims to discover convergence models in the robotics field specialized for the Incheon area, such as logistics and robots, and entertainment and robots, and provide step-by-step support from product development to commercialization.
Incheon TP plans to select companies that propose excellent projects and provide commercialization funds up to 200 million KRW for logistics robots and up to 50 million KRW for entertainment robots.
The support targets consortia composed of robot-related SMEs (suppliers and organizers) that have robot products and related services located in Incheon, and robot-utilizing companies (demanders and participants) with business sites in Incheon. Participation by domestic partner companies is also possible.
Applications for support can be submitted through the business support information site BizOK (bizok.incheon.go.kr) by the 31st of this month.
An Incheon TP official stated, "Incheon, equipped with global logistics infrastructure such as airports, ports, industrial complexes, and free economic zones, has advantages for specializing in logistics robots," adding, "We will support local specialized robot suppliers and users to achieve a win-win situation."
Earlier, Incheon City selected logistics robots and entertainment robots as focus areas for intensive development through meetings of domestic robotics expert innovation advisory groups last year.
Logistics robots are autonomous robots that navigate designated routes indoors and outdoors, used in manufacturing plants, logistics centers, logistics and courier companies, medical institutions, airports, ports, retail stores, hotels, and restaurants.
Entertainment robots support services such as indoor performances, experiences, and education, and are mainly used in theme parks, experience centers, museums, exhibition halls, libraries, government offices, educational institutions, medical institutions, large marts, and homes.
