26-Year-Old Male Resident of Boramae-dong, Gwanak-gu Confirmed to Have Visited Daegu Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) reported the second confirmed case of COVID-19 on the 26th.
The second confirmed case is a 26-year-old male residing in Boramae-dong, Gwanak-gu, who was confirmed to have visited the Daegu area from the 17th to the 21st of this month.
The exact route of infection has not yet been confirmed.
He tested positive on the day and is currently being transferred to a nationally designated hospital for treatment. It is known that after visiting Daegu, the confirmed patient stayed at home and voluntarily self-quarantined from the 21st to the 26th.
On the 26th, Gwanak-gu took thorough disinfection measures at the confirmed patient's residence and surrounding areas immediately after receiving notification of the confirmed case from the Dongjak-gu Public Health Center in Seoul.
Close contacts have been notified to self-quarantine.
The district plans to promptly and accurately disclose the confirmed patient's movement path as soon as the epidemiological investigation results are available, following the guidelines of the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency.
Park Jun-hee, Mayor of Gwanak-gu, stated, "We will prioritize the lives and safety of residents and make every effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community," and urged, "Please do not have excessive anxiety that threatens daily life, and follow COVID-19 behavioral guidelines such as hand washing, wearing masks at all times, and cough etiquette."
