On the 25th, the Incheon Western Police Station announced that they had arrested A (27, male) on suspicion of murder and were investigating him.
A is suspected of beating his girlfriend B (29) with his fist and strangling her to death at a villa in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, in early last month. He is believed to have put B's body in a gamani sack and dumped it in an empty lot near Moksanggyo Bridge on the Gyeongin Ara Waterway in Sicheon-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon.
When B's body was discovered at the location on the morning of the same day, the police launched an investigation and arrested A at the villa in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The police reviewed CCTV footage around the site where the body was found to confirm A's movements and B's identity.
B was found dead inside the gamani sack, fully clothed, and was reported to be in an advanced state of decomposition.
A police official stated, "After investigating A regarding the motive for the crime, we will decide whether to apply for an arrest warrant."
