[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] The Gyeonggi-do Fire and Disaster Headquarters is launching a focused crackdown on illegal activities such as the rental of national technical certificates.
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters announced on the 23rd that it will conduct a comprehensive crackdown on the rental of national technical certificates related to fire facility management businesses until May 15. Additionally, until October, it will carry out inspections targeting 2,250 companies in design and construction industries and 10,777 technical personnel for illegal activities such as certificate rental and dual employment.
The certificates subject to this crackdown include Fire Technology Engineer, Fire Facility Manager, Fire Equipment Engineer and Fire Equipment Industrial Engineer (Electrical, Mechanical), Fire Technology Recognition Qualification Booklet, Fire Technician Career Booklet, and Supervisor Grade Booklet.
If certificate rental is detected, the certificate of the lender will be revoked according to the "National Technical Qualifications Act," and companies registered with the rented certificate will have their registration canceled under the "Fire Facility Construction Business Act."
The Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters will form an investigation team of 35 members to preliminarily identify basic information such as the representatives, addresses, and technicians of affiliated workplaces, then conduct on-site visits to verify whether technical personnel are actually working.
In particular, if the rental route of certificates is confirmed, intermediaries facilitating the rental will also be investigated.
A Gyeonggi Fire Headquarters official emphasized, "Illegal rental of certificates leads to poor construction and inspection of fire facilities and causes highly skilled technical personnel to lose fair employment opportunities. We will eradicate this through strong crackdowns."
