[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] LG CNS has fully introduced a 'facial recognition access service' at its headquarters building.
On the 11th, LG CNS announced that facial recognition access services have been installed at 26 access gates at its headquarters located in Magok LG Science Park.
The facial recognition access service installs terminals at access gates to recognize faces and analyze facial information using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, verifying identity and controlling access. When a user shows their face to the terminal, it takes 0.3 seconds from facial recognition to information retrieval, identity verification, and gate opening decision.
LG CNS implemented the 'facial recognition access control solution' developed in collaboration with the global AI specialist company SenseTime.
LG CNS explained, "It can read faces accurately despite various real-world constraints such as masks, glasses, makeup, and face angles, with an accuracy exceeding 99%. Even when a user wearing a mask looks at their smartphone while passing through the gate, their identity is identified."
The facial recognition method eliminates unnecessary actions and recognizes faces within 2 meters of the terminal, allowing users to pass through the gate naturally without stopping.
The facial recognition service is ready once employee ID photos held by companies or institutions are uploaded to the system with employee consent. There is no need for a separate photo-taking process for facial information registration, nor is fingerprint or iris scanning required.
Joo Sung-jin, LG CNS security manager, stated, "We will continue open innovation with SenseTime to combine AI and physical security technologies in video areas such as CCTV, expanding our business into various fields including intrusion detection in controlled zones."
