Premium Delivery Service Sheffle, Limited Release of 'Hyojonggaeng'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] Delivery Hero Korea (CEO Kang Shin-bong), which operates Yogiyo, Baedaltong, and Foodfly, announced on the 10th that it will launch 'Hyojonggaeng,' a premium hangover soup enjoyed by yangban (noble class) during the Joseon Dynasty, as a limited menu for February on its premium delivery service 'Shefli.' Hyojonggaeng means 'soup eaten when the dawn bell rings' and is a traditional 'delivery hangover soup' that was delivered to the homes of high-ranking officials who drank heavily, made with precious ingredients after the curfew was lifted.
The 'Hyojonggaeng' available on Shefli faithfully reproduces the traditional recipe recorded in the late Joseon Dynasty literature 'Haedongjukji.' It features a clear and mild taste by simmering for a long time a 24-hour boiled beef rib soup with premium ingredients such as abalone and sea cucumber, along with napa cabbage, bean sprouts, and mushrooms, seasoned with fermented soybean paste (tojang).
To celebrate the launch of Hyojonggaeng, an event is being held until the 14th where customers can enjoy a 2,000 KRW discount on three representative menus, including the new menu. Lee Jin-duk, Shefli’s head chef, said, "We are introducing Hyojonggaeng, the hangover soup of the Joseon Dynasty yangban, as a limited new menu for February with Shefli’s style added. We hope that it will help people overcome the winter cold well as it contains not only taste and nutrition but also historical stories passed down since the Joseon Dynasty."
