Why Did Yudeokyeol, Dongdaemun-gu Mayor, and Other Officials Patrol the Field Without Resting During the Lunar New Year Holiday? Choi Hong-yeon, Deputy Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu (first on the right), visited the duty pharmacy in Imun-dong on the afternoon of the 25th and talked with the pharmacist.


[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, and other district executives are stepping up to ensure that residents face no inconveniences during the Lunar New Year holiday.


From the 24th to the 27th, a total of five officials including Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, Choi Hong-yeon, Deputy Mayor, Kim Jong-su, Director of Administration, Yang Ok-seop, Director of Planning and Finance, and Lee Hyung-gwan, Director of Welfare and Environment, are conducting local patrols to monitor residents' safety and daily life during the holiday period.


On the 24th, Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol, accompanied by Director Kim Jong-su, inspected road traffic conditions and visited traditional markets.


Deputy Mayor Choi Hong-yeon visited the district office on the afternoon of the 26th, Lunar New Year's Day, and together with the head of the Audit Office’s Environmental Patrol Team and staff, conducted patrols of the duty pharmacies in Jeonnong-dong, issued directives to crack down on illegal advertisements in Imun-dong, managed signboards and damaged guiding posts around Hyehwa Station, patrolled the Hwikyung garage while encouraging workers, and ordered a crackdown on illegal advertisements at massage establishments in Jang-an-dong.


The district executives patrol the area to ensure residents can spend the Lunar New Year safely and comfortably, checking for hazards, citizen inconveniences, and cleanliness, and promptly addressing any issues.


Since establishing the Safety Office in July 2015 to create a safer city, the district is especially prepared to prevent safety accidents during this Lunar New Year as well.


Dongdaemun-gu executives have been working during holidays since Chuseok 2017 to maintain uninterrupted district administration.


Additionally, through the executives’ communication group on Naver Band, they share daily cleaning status, comprehensive holiday measures, and various incidents and accidents every day at 4 p.m., enabling rapid information dissemination and response.


Alongside this, eight teams comprising 189 employees?including the cleaning task force, emergency medical response team, snow removal team, and illegal parking crackdown team?are working 24 hours a day from the district office’s comprehensive situation room from the 23rd to the 28th to handle their duties.


Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “District executives will personally inspect the sites carefully to ensure residents can spend the Lunar New Year holiday comfortably and safely. I hope everyone enjoys a joyful holiday with their families.”
