[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Lee In-young, the floor leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, criticized the Liberty Korea Party's satellite party formation on the 21st, arguing that "the controversy over the election law should be left behind like water flowing in the past."

At the floor strategy meeting held at the National Assembly that day, Lee said, "(The Liberty Korea Party) should no longer make politics a laughingstock."

He pointed out, "Hwang Kyo-ahn, the leader of the Liberty Korea Party, claimed that the abnormal monster election law distorts public opinion and steals votes, and that the formation of a satellite party is a struggle to protect proportional representation," adding, "It is a serious problem that the leader of the main opposition party openly makes incorrect claims in official settings."

He continued, "The Democratic Party boldly gave up about 15 proportional representation seats and also relinquished the majority party privileges," adding, "Holding on to privileges while occupying far more seats than the public support reminds us that only the Liberty Korea Party remains in South Korea."

He warned, "No matter how you put it, the Liberty Korea Party's formation of a non-proportional satellite party is nothing but a narrow insistence on privileges," and "In front of the satellite party that underestimates the people and deceives them, there is only the massive condemnation of voters."

Lee also declared, "We will face the livelihood issues head-on," and vowed to make this general election a 'livelihood election.'

He emphasized, "The South Korean economy stands at a critical crossroads between rebound and stagnation," adding, "If we miss this opportunity, our economy could return to a long tunnel of stagnation. The government, the National Assembly, and the people must become a perfect team."

Lee further stated, "Consistent policy implementation is important to firmly establish the hard-won economic recovery as a reality," and "With the results of this general election, we must create a livelihood-focused National Assembly that carefully manages policies one by one so that the effects of economic recovery quickly reach ordinary citizens."

He said, "From the preparation process for the general election, the Democratic Party will break away from the temptation of easy political strife and devote all efforts to improving the lives of the people," and "We will prepare and review each pledge from the perspective of livelihood."
