Im Dong-hwan, Nominee for Head of Gyeonggi Southern Branch
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daeseop] The Small and Medium Business Corporation announced on the 20th that the Gyeonggi Southern Branch is scheduled to officially open in February this year.
The newly established Gyeonggi Southern Branch will oversee the Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Osan areas. Until last year, these areas were managed by the Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters located in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, but with the opening of the Southern Branch, it is expected that the geographical and time-related inconveniences faced by small and medium-sized enterprises in these regions will be resolved.
The Gyeonggi Southern Branch is set to begin supporting small businesses on the 23rd at the Knowledge Industry Center inside the Wonhee Castle Bongdam Building located in Bongdam-eup, Hwaseong. The official opening is targeted for early next month. The amount of policy funds provided to small and medium enterprises in Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Osan under the Southern Branch jurisdiction reached 147.6 billion KRW as of last year.
Lim Donghwan, the head of the Public Relations Office, has been appointed as the inaugural branch chief. Lim joined the Small and Medium Business Corporation in 1992 and has served as head of the Export Business Team at the Global Business Division, head of the Export Cooperation Team at the Gyeonggi Regional Headquarters, and director of the Jeonbuk Western Branch.
Appointee Lim stated, "Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Osan are known as the mecca for small and medium enterprises related to materials, parts, and equipment, which are the next-generation growth engines of the Korean economy," adding, "I will do my best to promote the innovative growth of small and medium enterprises in the jurisdiction."
