Seoul City Announces Special Traffic Measures for Lunar New Year Holiday

[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The last subway and bus services will be extended until 2 a.m. on Lunar New Year’s Day and the following day, the 26th.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced special transportation measures for the Lunar New Year holiday on the 19th.

The city buses with extended last service times include 129 routes passing through five train stations and four bus terminals. Nine owl bus routes and about 3,000 late-night taxis will also operate normally throughout the holiday period.

To accommodate visitors to the municipal cemeteries, five city bus routes passing through Yongmiri and Manguri municipal cemeteries will increase their frequency to weekday and Saturday levels for two days starting from the 25th.

Express and intercity buses departing from Seoul and passing through five city terminals will increase the number of operating vehicles by an average of 562 per day during the holiday period.

The bus-only lane on the Gyeongbu Expressway will have its operating hours extended from 7 a.m. until 1 a.m. the next day, starting the day before the Lunar New Year holiday and throughout the holiday period.

Meanwhile, during the holiday period, the city and autonomous districts will jointly conduct special enforcement against illegal parking and stopping.

Information on special transportation measures for the Lunar New Year holiday, including last public transportation service times, can be found on the Seoul Transportation Information Center TOPIS website or the Seoul Transportation Portal application.
