[Asia Economy Intern Reporter Lim Juhyung] Yoon Il-lok, whose contract with J-League Yokohama has ended, has joined Montpellier HSC of the French Ligue 1.
Montpellier officially announced Yoon Il-lok's transfer on the 18th (Korean time) through their official website. The club stated, "Korean national team forward Yoon Il-lok has joined."
Montpellier also posted a video announcing Yoon Il-lok's signing on SNS and delivered welcome messages in both French and Korean.
Yoon Il-lok received a jersey with the number 24 from the club.
Yoon Il-lok expressed his feelings, saying, "I am happy to become a member of Montpellier. I want to show my skills to the team and fans and become an important player."
Previously, Yoon Il-lok was on loan to Jeju United last year, where he played 34 matches and scored 11 goals during the season. It is known that Montpellier acquired Yoon Il-lok without a transfer fee.
Meanwhile, Montpellier finished 6th in Ligue 1 in the 2018-2019 season. As of the 20th round this season, they have recorded 30 points and are managed by Armenian coach Michel Der Zakarian.
