2PM Nichkhun involved in minor car accident under influence of alcohol

K-pop idol Nichkhun of boy band 2PM was caught driving under the influence of alcohol.

According to reports by the Gangnam police on Tuesday, Nichkhun was involved in a car accident while driving under the influence of alcohol in southern Seoul early this morning around 3 a.m. KST.

The police officials said he rear-ended a motorcycle but both the idol singer and the motorcyclist did not sustain any injuries. Nichkhun's blood alcohol concentration level was found to be 0.056 percent, which leads to the suspension of his driver's license.

His agency, JYP Entertainment (JYPE), released a statement early this morning to explain further about the situation.

"Around 2:30 this morning, Nichkhun and other affiliated artists of JYPE had a dinner together following a rehearsal for the upcoming concert. Nichkhun consumed about two glasses of beer and while driving back to the dorm, which is located in the same block of the restaurant, he was involved in the accident."

"Nichkhun's blood alcohol level was measured at 0.056 percent and his license has been suspended. Nichkhun and everyone at the firm extend our sincerest apologies and we'll fully cooperate in any follow-up investigations. Once again, we apologize."

Nichkhun, whose full name is Nichkun Buck Horvejkul, is a Thai-American singer who was discovered and trained as a member of boy band 2PM by JYP Entertainment.

2PM recently wrapped up their Asia tour after performing in several countries throughout Asia including Taiwan, China, Singapore and Malaysia.

Aside from his group activities, Nichkhun has appeared on a number of variety shows such as MBC’s reality TV series “We Got Married," and made his film debut in Japan with a role in "Ouran High School Host Club."

He recently attended the press conference and special screening for the omnibus Thai film "Seven Something."
