"Light and Shadow" remains lead despite ratings drop

MBC series "Light and Shadow" has continued its winning streak despite seeing a slight drop in its ratings.

"Light and Shadow" sat atop the ratings chart by posting an average rating of 19.1 percent though the number began to tail off a bit, according to data compiled by TNmS (Total National Multimedia Statistics) on June 18 and 19.

The figure showed that the number dropped a percentage point from the previous week, while the runner-up SBS’ "THE CHASER” recorded a higher number of ratings from the last week's figure.

"THE CHASER," in which actor Son Hyun-joo plays a critical role to lead the drama posting a higher number of ratings every week, had an increase of 1.7 percentage points this week.

The TNmS' data showed that the action drama is catching up fast with the big winner on Monday and Tuesday, and attracted about 13.2 percent of the total TV audience during the same time frame.

Coming in last on the chart is KBS’ “Big,” starring actor Gong Yoo, actress Lee Min-jung and miss A’s Bae Suzy.

Despite gaining positive reactions from TV critics and the viewers, proven by reviews and comments left on the website’s board, “Big” is still struggling at the bottom with about 8.5 percent of the viewers tuned in this week.

Meanwhile, AGB Nielson Media Research reported that all three dramas have ranked in the same order but with slightly different ratings.

While “Light and Shadow” kept its position atop with 19.1 percent of the viewers attracted, “THE CHASER” and “Big” each posted average ratings of 12.4 and 8.1 percent in the same period.
