[Conference Call] Samsung SDI: "Mass Production of All-Solid-State Batteries Next Year...Collaborating with Various Robotics Companies"

On February 2, during its 2025 earnings conference call held in the afternoon, Samsung SDI stated, “We are pushing ahead with the development of all-solid-state batteries with the goal of mass production next year, as originally planned. In October of last year, we signed a business agreement with BMW for the development of test vehicles, which is one of the visible achievements we have made.” The company added, “Although there is a recent trend of automakers delaying their electrification plans, the robotics market is rapidly growing due to the application of physical AI technology. As a result, demand for all-solid-state batteries is increasing, given the limited installation space and the need for high safety and output required by such devices. We are therefore exploring ways to utilize these batteries with various robotics companies.” Samsung SDI further stated, “We are also expanding business opportunities to new applications such as urban air mobility (UAM) and high-altitude platform stations, which require the highest levels of safety and energy density. We plan to invest in expanding the production capacity of our all-solid-state battery line within this year, aiming for mass production next year, and we will make preparations to commercialize the technology according to schedule.”
