On July 17, Entegris Korea held an opening ceremony for its R&D center, the Korea Technology Center (KTC), which was established at the ERICA Campus Innovation Park of Hanyang University in Ansan. The ceremony was attended by Kim Jaewon, CEO of Entegris Korea; Heo Namseok, Deputy Mayor of Ansan; Ko Youngin, Vice Governor for Economic Affairs of Gyeonggi Province; Lee Gijeong, President of Hanyang University; and approximately 50 other participants.

Founded in 1966, Entegris is a global semiconductor materials company headquartered in Billerica, Massachusetts, United States. As of last year, its global sales reached $3.2 billion (approximately 4.45 trillion won). The company specializes in the production of chemicals and specialty gases used in semiconductor processes, micro-contamination control, and the transportation of specialty materials.

The KTC is an expansion and relocation of the company’s existing technology center previously operated in Suwon. The new facility has six above-ground floors and a total floor area of 12,000 square meters. The center will serve as a key research hub in Asia, focusing on core materials and process technologies required for semiconductor manufacturing processes such as chemical mechanical polishing (CMP), thin film deposition, and cleaning.

Kim Jaewon, CEO, stated, "The R&D center will serve as an opportunity to elevate Entegris' domestic research capabilities to the next level," adding, "In particular, we will accelerate technology development to lead the global market in the field of semiconductor materials."

Heo Namseok, Deputy Mayor, said, "The opening of the center marks the starting point for Ansan to emerge as a hub for global advanced materials research," and added, "We will continue to provide administrative support to foster an industrial ecosystem that attracts outstanding companies and talent."
