Introduction to Science and Technology Policy and Career Exploration Tailored to Youth

The Busan Institute for Science and Technology Promotion (BISTEP), led by President Kim Youngbu, operated the 'BISTEP Regional Science and Technology Policy Exploration' program for local youth in the main conference room of its headquarters on June 5.

This exploration program was organized as part of BISTEP's social contribution initiative, 'Eop&Up (Business&UP)', to allow local youth to experience science and technology policy up close and to provide practical support for their career planning.

About 20 students from eight universities, including Dong-A University and Pukyong National University, participated in the event. The participants listened to explanations about BISTEP's main functions and roles, the current status of Busan's science and technology policies, and major R&D-based projects. They also engaged in active communication through a Q&A session.

A freshman in the Department of Biomedical Science at Dong-A University, identified as A, said, "I requested this exploration opportunity as part of my career club activities, and I am grateful that it was readily accepted. Seeing how science and technology policies are actually implemented has broadened my perspective on my career path."

President Kim Youngbu stated, "I hope that through this exploration, young people have gained a deeper understanding of the local science and technology ecosystem and that it helps them plan for their futures. We will continue to expand field-oriented career exploration opportunities."

BISTEP is a public institution that supports the establishment and promotion of Busan's science and technology policies. It pursues various policies and projects to vitalize the local R&D ecosystem and to spread science and technology-based social innovation.
