Starring Shin Min-a, Ju Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, and Lee Se-young
Studio N, the production company, announced on the 14th that it will create a series based on Naver Webtoon's hit work 'Jaehon Hwanghu' (Remarriage Empress).
'Jaehon Hwanghu' is a romance fantasy epic that recorded a global cumulative view count of 2.6 billion as of December last year. It depicts the events that unfold when Nabiye, the Empress of the Dongdae Empire, demands remarriage to Prince Heinrich of the Western Kingdom instead of accepting Emperor Sobieshu's divorce notice. It began as a web novel in 2018 and expanded into a webtoon, establishing itself as a global intellectual property (IP).
Studio N, which has produced major works such as 'Severe Trauma Center' and 'Jeongnyeoni,' has completed preparations for filming with a star-studded cast. The protagonist Nabiye is played by Shin Min-a, Sobieshu by Ju Ji-hoon, and Heinrich by Lee Jong-suk. Rasta, a runaway slave who covets the empress's position, is portrayed by Lee Se-young. The director is Cho Soo-won, known for delicately depicting characters' emotions in works like 'I Hear Your Voice,' 'Pinocchio,' and 'Thirty But Seventeen.' The script is written by writer Yeo Ji-na, known for 'The Uncanny Counter,' together with writer Hyun Choong-yeol. Studio N stated, "We plan to faithfully realize the original world that fans worldwide are passionate about."
