Cooperation for Training Professionals and Establishing a Research Platform
Sungkyunkwan University has signed a business agreement with the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials for joint research and the operation of a specialized academic-industry program in the semiconductor equipment field.
Sungkyunkwan University and the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials signed a memorandum of understanding on the 5th to conduct joint research in the semiconductor equipment field and operate a specialized academic-industrial cooperation program. Through this agreement, Sungkyunkwan University announced on the 6th that it will promote research and the training of professionals for the advancement of the cutting-edge semiconductor industry.
The signing ceremony was held on the 5th with the attendance of Sungkyunkwan University President Yoo Ji-beom, Vice President of the Natural Science Campus Kwon Young-wook, Director of Industry-Academic Cooperation Group Koo Ja-chun, Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials Director Ryu Seok-hyun, Director of the Autonomous Manufacturing Research Institute Oh Jung-seok, and Head of the Nano Convergence Research Headquarters Jang Won-seok.
Both institutions plan to activate joint research for the development of semiconductor equipment technology and operate a specialized academic-industry program to train practical research personnel.
Sungkyunkwan University intends to focus on carrying out research and development projects and technology commercialization to enhance national competitiveness in the semiconductor equipment field.
President Yoo Ji-beom said, "Through this agreement, we will strengthen joint research and talent development and contribute to enhancing South Korea's technological competitiveness based on mutual cooperation."
Director Ryu Seok-hyun of the Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials stated, "We are pleased to sign an agreement with Sungkyunkwan University to lead the AI semiconductor era," adding, "We will contribute to advancing into a global technology powerhouse through research cooperation."
