Paju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Kyung-il) announced on the 5th that it began expanding the operation of the Paju-type student-only school bus 'Paprika' on the 4th, coinciding with the start of the new school semester.
Operated through cooperation between Paju City, Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education, and Paju Office of Education, the Paju-type student-only circular school bus Paprika started service in the Unjeong area in March 2024. After pilot operations in December in the Munsan and Geumchon areas, it will play a major role in student commuting in Unjeong, Munsan, and Geumchon from March onward.
According to Paju City, in the Unjeong area, existing routes have been extended to connect more schools and villages. In the Munsan and Geumchon areas, additional stops were added based on pilot operation results to enhance convenience for commuting students, enabling more students to use the service.
Since route changes involve adjustments in operation times and stops, information has been posted on the Paju City blog. As data synchronization takes time for Naver App and KakaoMap, the use of the Gyeonggi Bus Information App is recommended during the first week of school.
Jeon Seon-ah, Superintendent of Paju Office of Education, stated, “We hope that students in northern Paju who had difficulties commuting will be able to reduce their burden through this opportunity. The Paju Office of Education will continue to strive to improve students’ commuting conditions.”
Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju said, “Although we want all students, the future of Paju, to use this service, it is true that there are many practical difficulties. We will continuously improve any shortcomings so that as many students as possible can use it comfortably for commuting.”
