Fire at 6-Story Commercial Building in Ansan, Gyeonggi... 52 People Including Guests Rescued

2 People Seriously Injured

A fire broke out in a six-story building in Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi Province, and about 50 people were rescued.


According to the Fire Agency on the 17th, the fire department, which responded to a fire report at around 3:38 a.m., issued Fire Response Level 1 at 3:36 a.m. and Level 2 at 3:57 a.m. to extinguish the fire and rescue people. Level 2 response is an alert that mobilizes equipment from 8 to 14 fire stations, with 51 to 80 units deployed.

A total of 52 people, including motel guests, were rescued by firefighters, and among them, two people were rescued by dropping onto an air mattress installed outside the building. Of those rescued, 31 people showing mild smoke inhalation symptoms were transported to hospitals.


Two people in their 30s, a man and a woman, were classified as seriously injured but were reported to be conscious.


The fire was initially controlled around 4:47 a.m., about an hour after it started, and was completely extinguished by 5:52 a.m.


The police and fire authorities plan to investigate the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage once the extinguishing operations are completed.
