Providing Passenger Convenience for Line 1 Users at Gasan Digital Complex Station
Reducing Congestion in Underground Transfer Passage to Enhance User Convenience
Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) announced the opening of Exit 3 at Gasan Digital Complex Station (Line 1, downbound) to provide convenience to subway passengers and improve congestion.
Exit 3 of Gasan Digital Complex Station is an access facility connecting the southern end of the downbound platform to the ground. It is a railway facility improvement project promoted with a total project cost of 2.3 billion KRW, jointly invested by Geumcheon-gu with 1.2 billion KRW and the Korea Rail Network Authority with 1.1 billion KRW in 2019.
According to the 2022 public transportation usage analysis by Seoul City, Gasan Digital Complex Station, a transfer station between Line 1 and Line 7, is the most congested station in Seoul during rush hours, with an average of 30,000 passengers disembarking. Since the Line 7 exit is directly connected to G-Valley, the underground transfer passage used by Line 1 passengers through the Line 7 exit was always crowded.
The district expects that the opening of this exit will provide passage convenience to Line 1 passengers and significantly reduce congestion in the underground transfer passage. Approximately 4,000 Line 1 passengers who previously used the Line 7 exit are expected to switch to the newly established Exit 3.
Additionally, in June 2023, the district opened Exit 8 at Gasan Digital Complex Station and is currently expanding Exits 6 and 9, continuing projects to improve convenience for passengers.
Yu Seong-hoon, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, stated, “As congestion at the exits has been increasing, we established Exit 3 at Gasan Digital Complex Station to ensure user convenience and safety. We will continue to pay close attention and promote various projects so that residents can conveniently use public transportation.”
