Digital twin specialist company E8 announced on the 17th that it will develop more advanced smart weather services by integrating environmental data such as weather data, fine dust, and indoor air quality with simulation technology through a business agreement (MOU) with weather information specialist company Weatheri.
Through this agreement, the two companies will collaborate in various fields including ▲ joint development of digital twin services that combine precise weather data and simulation for smart cities, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems), smart farms, and more ▲ joint development of simulation solutions to advance weather forecasting services.
E8 plans to enhance the quality of its digital twin platform NDX PRO, which is used in various fields such as urban, environmental, and energy sectors, by integrating Weatheri’s precise weather data and weather forecasting models.
Additionally, the two companies will use E8’s simulation solution NFLOW to predict abnormal weather phenomena such as heavy localized rainfall. Based on this, they plan to advance Weatheri’s weather forecasting technology to provide more reliable and useful weather information. Furthermore, through the integration of Weatheri’s weather information with NDX PRO, existing NDX PRO users will be able to receive Weatheri’s weather services.
Abnormal weather phenomena causing large-scale property damage, such as localized heavy rainfall, cannot be addressed by past data alone. In situations requiring more detailed disaster response through various scenario analyses using simulation technology, the combination of Weatheri’s proprietary weather forecasting technology and vast weather data with E8’s simulation technology is expected to enable the provision of more practical weather-related services for everyday life. They also plan to actively expand domestic and international markets through commercialization and marketing of jointly developed solutions.
Jinhyun Kim, CEO of E8, stated, "The simulation field related to disasters such as flooding and landslides is an area where our company holds unique competitiveness. We plan to provide smart weather services combining the advanced technologies of both companies across industries including smart cities, disaster management, agriculture, and energy."
Youngdo Kim, CEO of Weatheri, said, "Through cooperation with E8, we will open new possibilities for weather information services. Based on the expertise of both companies, we will develop smart weather services and simulation solutions that can contribute to various sectors of society."
