According to the legal community on the 2nd, the Criminal Division 1 of Suwon High Court (Presiding Judges Park Seon-jun, Jeong Hyeon-sik, Bae Yoon-gyeong) dismissed both the appeals filed by A (32), who was charged with killing her legal ascendants and murder, and the prosecution, thereby upholding the original verdict.

Previously, A was indicted for stabbing her stepfather B (65 at the time of death) multiple times in the abdomen and chest at his residence in Gunpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, between 5:22 p.m. and 7:42 p.m. on July 21 last year. B was bedridden due to a stroke. A also stabbed her biological mother C (57 at the time of death), who tried to stop her, with a weapon, killing her as well.

"Father is an Alien, Mother is a Snake"... 30s Woman Who Killed Parents in Delusion Sentenced to 15 Years in Second Trial A woman in her 30s who brutally killed her parents while lost in delusions was sentenced to 15 years in prison again in the appellate court.

During the investigation, A stated, "My father looked like an alien, and someone told me to kill," and "My mother looked like a snake." It was found that A had been diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder around 2015 at a hospital but had not received proper treatment.

The first trial sentenced A to 15 years in prison, along with a treatment order and a 10-year electronic monitoring order. Subsequently, the prosecution appealed on the grounds of inappropriate sentencing, while A appealed citing factual errors and inappropriate sentencing.

However, the appellate court stated, "The various circumstances cited by the defendant and the prosecution as reasons for sentencing have already been revealed during the original trial proceedings or were sufficiently considered when the original sentence was determined," and dismissed the appeals.

The first trial court stated in its judgment, "The defendant’s method of stabbing the victims, who were defenseless and unable to properly resist, with a weapon was extremely cruel, and it is clear that the victims experienced extreme fear and pain until just before their deaths."

However, it also noted as a mitigating factor, "The defendant appears to have committed the crime while mentally impaired due to delusions caused by bipolar affective disorder and other conditions."
