"No ID Required for Banking Services"…IBK, First in Financial Sector to Implement Digital Identity Verification

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] IBK Bank customers can now conduct banking transactions at branches without an ID card.

IBK Bank announced on the 16th that it will implement the 'IBK Digital Identity Verification' service, the first in the financial sector to apply the Financial Real Name Act special provisions.

Even without carrying an ID card, customers can verify their identity and conduct financial transactions using the ID image previously registered on IBK Bank's smart banking app 'i-ONE Bank.'

When a branch teller initiates identity verification, an authentication code is generated on a tablet PC at the counter, and an authentication request is sent to the customer's smartphone using inaudible sound waves (frequencies inaudible to humans), an innovative technology developed by IBK First Lab's partner company, InfoSonic. The customer enters the authentication code and password from the tablet PC into the smart banking app, and the bank employee retrieves the previously registered ID image to complete the identity verification.

The IBK Digital Identity Verification service, selected as an 'Innovative Financial Service' by the Financial Services Commission in February, originated from ideas by IBK Bank employees. This idea was awarded the grand prize at last year's 'IBK Innovative Financial Service Contest.'

An IBK Bank official stated, "This service not only enhances customer financial convenience but also minimizes direct contact, making it a timely service," adding, "We will continue to strive to develop innovative financial services."
