Kim Dong-wook begins mandatory 2-year military service today

Korean actor Kim Dong-wook entered the Korean army today as part of fulfilling the country's mandatory military services.

An official with Jangin Entertainment told the magazine in a phone interview Thursday that Kim entered the Nonsan training camp in the South Chungcheong Province at 2 p.m. KST.

Kim will undergo four weeks of basic training at the camp as part of fulfilling Korea's two year mandatory military service and serve as a riot police for the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency (SMPA) for the remaining period.

"The Concubine" star will follow in the footsteps of actors Cho Seung-woo and Ryu Soo-young, both who have fulfilled their duties as riot police, while "Architecture 101" star Lee Jae-hoon will join Kim when he begins his duties on October 25.

Kim rose to fame after starring in Korean blockbuster "Take Off" and playing a barista in hit TV series "The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince."

His last activities before enlisting was starring in the erotic historical film "The Concubine" opposite actress Cho Yeo-jung and Kim Min-joon and serving as the promotional ambassador at the Jecheon International Music and Film Festival (JIMFF) early this month.
