Yeongyang County in North Gyeongsang Province will host the "2025 Starlight Firefly Experience Festival" at the Yeongyang International Dark Sky Park on August 30.
The Firefly Experience Festival is a program where visitors can enjoy the beautiful night sky of Yeongyang County and encounter the fireflies of its pristine environment. It has established itself as a festival leading the way in eco-friendly culture.
Starting with the Firefly Exploration Program on August 29 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., participants will explore the late firefly habitats along the firefly exploration trail and observe the Milky Way. The main event on August 30 will feature attractions such as juggling and bubble shows, a night sky OX quiz, eco-friendly craft workshops, and a jazz concert at the observatory area within the Dark Sky Park.
In addition, the Eco Experience Zone will offer one-day classes such as soap making and natural air freshener workshops, as well as a participatory flea market operated by local small business owners and creators.
County Governor Oh Dochang stated, "I hope visitors will create beautiful memories in the natural light provided by the stars and fireflies, away from artificial light," adding, "Our county will do its utmost to ensure that visitors can enjoy nature and relax without any inconvenience."
