On July 1, Gwangyang City in South Jeolla Province held the inauguration ceremony for Jungwan Kim, the 22nd Vice Mayor of Gwangyang, in the city hall conference room. The event was attended by Mayor Inhwa Jung and approximately 150 staff members. The ceremony proceeded in the following order: introduction of the new vice mayor's career, presentation of a welcome bouquet, welcome address, inaugural speech, and greetings with staff members.
In his welcome address, Mayor Inhwa Jung stated, "Vice Mayor Jungwan Kim is a talented individual who passed the state civil service examination and is an expert in administration and investment attraction, having accumulated diverse experience in South Jeolla Province and local governments. I am very pleased to have such a person as our vice mayor, and I expect that he will be a great asset to Gwangyang City and its citizens."
Vice Mayor Jungwan Kim said, "I sincerely thank Mayor Inhwa Jung for giving me the opportunity to serve Gwangyang. It is truly meaningful and an honor to join Gwangyang, which is a source of pride for South Jeolla Province and for Korea, having ranked first in both the quantitative and qualitative categories of the joint government evaluation."
He continued, "I will devote all my passion to assisting the mayor in making Gwangyang a city where people want to live for a lifetime. I will do my utmost to ensure that the city's outstanding achievements continue, and I will communicate seamlessly not only with city hall staff but also with the central government, the provincial government, agencies, and organizations. Furthermore, when employees face difficulties, I will be a vice mayor who shares their concerns and works together to find solutions."
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Kim is a native of Jangheung, South Jeolla Province, and graduated from the Department of Public Administration at Chonnam National University. After passing the 49th state civil service examination, he has served in various positions including Director of Planning in the Planning and Coordination Office of South Jeolla Province, Director of Job Policy, Deputy County Governor of Jangheung, Head of the COP28 (28th United Nations Climate Change Conference) Bid Promotion Team, Director of the South Jeolla Human Resources Development Institute, and Head of Investment Promotion at the Gwangyang Bay Area Free Economic Zone Authority.
