Incheon City’s couple festival, which aims to promote a positive perception of marriage and childbirth, is receiving an enthusiastic response from single men and women.
On June 12, the city announced that 2,144 people had applied for the first and second sessions of the 'i Plus Eardream' couple festival, which is recruiting 200 participants, resulting in a competition rate of 10.7 to 1.
The city plans to select 100 participants for each session, for a total of 200, through a random draw and will notify the selected individuals individually. The first session will be held on June 22 at the Inspire Integrated Resort in Yeongjong, and the second session is scheduled for July 12 at Songdo Convensia.
i Plus Eardream is a program that is part of Incheon’s birth policy, designed to help single men and women in Incheon who wish to get married form new connections. The city plans to hold the couple festival five times this year, through November, targeting approximately 460 single men and women in total.
Eligible participants are single men and women aged 24 to 39 (born between 1986 and 2001) who are either registered residents of Incheon or employed by companies located in Incheon. The eligibility also includes self-employed individuals and freelancers.
An official from Incheon City stated, "It appears that the high level of interest and large number of applicants is due to the lack of opportunities for single men and women to meet in their daily lives." "We will continue to actively support opportunities for single men and women to meet, and will expand various programs to foster a more positive perception of marriage and childbirth," the official added.
