Muju Love Gift Certificates...
Expected to Boost the Local Economy
Muju County in North Jeolla Province will begin providing 'enlistment support grants' starting next month.
According to the county on June 12, this is the first year the enlistment support grant will be provided. The program was established to encourage individuals fulfilling their mandatory military service and to enhance their sense of pride.
The grant is available to young people who have maintained resident registration in the county and lived there for at least one year as of their enlistment date. Eligible recipients include active-duty soldiers and social service agents who have received an enlistment notice (issued on or after June 1, 2025). Each recipient will receive a one-time Muju Love Gift Certificate worth 200,000 won.
Applications must be submitted after receiving the enlistment notice and before enlistment. However, in unavoidable circumstances, applications can be submitted within six months after the enlistment date. Applicants must bring their ID, enlistment notice, and other required documents to the administrative welfare center in their town or township of residence.
Hwang Inhong, Governor of Muju County, stated, "The enlistment support grant expresses our encouragement for the young people of Muju County who are fulfilling their duties as citizens of Korea, and our hopes for their healthy journey. Since the grant is provided in the form of Muju Love Gift Certificates, we also expect it to help vitalize the local economy."
Meanwhile, the county plans to inform residents of the enlistment support grant program through administrative welfare centers in each town and township this month. The program will also be widely promoted through various channels, including the county office website, social media, and village head meetings.
