"Daerongdaerong" and "Mom's Mistake" Return as Part of the "Comeback" Series
Targeting Peak Season with Retro Marketing
"Daerongdaerong" is a spoonable fruit-flavored ice cream first launched in 1987 by Lotte Samkang (now Lotte Wellfood). It is characterized by its cool, sweet taste and a container shaped like a piece of fruit. The company stated, "Since the product was discontinued in 2010, there have been consistent requests for its re-release," and added, "According to an internal survey conducted over the past three years on our social media channels, it was the most frequently mentioned among our discontinued ice creams that consumers want to see return, which led to the decision to re-launch it."
"Mom's Mistake" is a fruit-flavored ice cream that was introduced in 2006. This product features a unique combination of sweet milk and real fruit pieces, allowing consumers to enjoy several fruit flavors at once. It was discontinued in 2021.
The company made efforts to faithfully recreate the original recipes from when these products were first available, so that customers can once again enjoy the nostalgic flavors. "Daerongdaerong Returns" will be released with the original orange flavor. "Mom's Mistake Returns" will feature a sweet red bean and milk base with large pieces of fruit such as peach, pineapple, and mango.
