A section of Gwanggyosan-ro in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province, will be expanded from one lane to two lanes.
On June 12, Suwon City announced that it will expand the one-lane Gwanggyosan-ro to two lanes in order to alleviate traffic congestion on the road. The expansion will cover a 160-meter section from the Gwanggyo Park public parking lot to the entrance of Gwanggyo Park.
Construction recently began, with completion targeted for the end of October. In consideration of the possibility that the sidewalk may become narrower due to the additional lane, the city will also carry out a sidewalk expansion project. In addition, a 110-meter-long bicycle lane will be created to ensure the safety of both pedestrians and cyclists.
A Suwon City official stated, "Gwanggyosan-ro is an important road connected to Gwanggyosan, which is frequently visited by citizens," adding, "This expansion project will reduce traffic inconvenience and strengthen pedestrian safety, thereby improving convenience for residents."
