Samsung Electronics Targets Southeast Asian Home System Air Conditioner Market

Samsung Electronics is targeting the rapidly growing air conditioning market in Southeast Asia by introducing home system air conditioners that emphasize a "smart connected experience."

On June 12, Samsung Electronics announced that it will introduce a new 1Way (unidirectional) cassette-type system air conditioner model with Wi-Fi functionality and a compact design to consumers in Southeast Asian countries such as Thailand, the Philippines, and Vietnam. The 1Way cassette-type Wind-Free air conditioner features a streamlined design with a height of 135 mm, making it easy to install and highly space-efficient.

In particular, the product is equipped with built-in Wi-Fi, allowing users to enjoy artificial intelligence (AI) experiences such as SmartThings and Bixby without the need to purchase a separate Wi-Fi kit. By connecting to the SmartThings app and using the "AI Saving Mode," energy consumption can be reduced by up to 20%. In addition, various air conditioner functions, such as indoor temperature and humidity control, can be conveniently operated by voice through Bixby, the AI voice assistant on smartphones.

In Southeast Asia, Samsung Electronics is also actively expanding its B2B (business-to-business) heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) solutions business, focusing on large-scale facilities such as premium residential complexes, public facilities, luxury resorts, and hotels. In 2024, sales of Samsung system air conditioners in the Southeast Asian market increased by more than 20% compared to the previous year, and in particular, sales of the highly popular 1Way cassette model surged by over 35%.
