Active Promotion for On-Time Payment by June 30
Changnyeong County announced on June 11 that it has imposed a total of 2,872,830,000 KRW in automobile taxes for the first installment of 2025 on 27,283 cases, and has launched an active campaign to encourage residents to pay within the deadline.
The obligation to pay the first installment of automobile tax applies to owners of automobiles, construction machinery, and motorcycles (over 125cc) registered in Changnyeong County as of June 1, the tax base date. The payment deadline is June 30. In cases where a vehicle is newly registered or transferred during the year, the tax is calculated on a pro-rata basis according to the period of ownership.
In addition, vehicles that were paid in advance in a lump sum at the beginning of the year, as well as vehicles exempt from taxation such as those owned by people with disabilities or national merit recipients, are excluded from this tax assessment.
Automobile tax can be paid at ATMs of financial institutions nationwide without a bill. Online payment is also available through virtual accounts on platforms such as WETAX, Internet Giro, and easy payment apps (such as KakaoPay and NaverPay).
For inquiries regarding automobile tax, detailed information can be obtained from the Finance Division at the county office or the town and township offices corresponding to the address of residence.
A Changnyeong County official stated, "A 3% penalty will be imposed after the payment deadline, and in the event of delinquency, disadvantages such as the seizure of license plates may occur," and urged, "Please make sure to pay by June 30."
