Professor Youngmok Kim (Department of Food Science, majoring in Food Engineering) at Pukyong National University (President: Bae Sanghoon) has been selected as a recipient of the Presidential Commendation in celebration of the 24th Food Safety Day.

Professor Kim was recognized for his contributions to the advancement of food safety policies and the promotion of public food safety. The award ceremony will be held at the 24th Food Safety Day event, which will take place on May 8 at The Plaza Hotel Seoul.
Food Safety Day, observed annually on May 14, is a statutory commemorative day established under the Food Safety Basic Act in 2016 to raise public awareness of food safety and to strengthen the awareness and capabilities of those working in the food sector.
Professor Kim has actively engaged in research and policy activities related to food hygiene and safety, serving as a member of the Food Hygiene Deliberation Committee of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and as a member of the Central Fisheries and Fishing Village Policy Committee of the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries.
He has also contributed to the establishment of a domestic food safety infrastructure and the training of related professionals through research conducted with various organizations, including the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, and the National Research Foundation of Korea.
Professor Kim expressed his thoughts, saying, "It is a great honor to receive the Presidential Commendation on such a meaningful Food Safety Day. I will continue to do my best to advance food safety so that the public can consume food with confidence."
