Dobong-gu Decides to Fully Cancel Cherry Blossom Festival Due to Nationwide Wildfire Damage

Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) has decided to fully cancel the '2025 Dobong Cherry Blossom Festival,' which was scheduled from April 4 to 8, considering that the national wildfire disaster alert is at a critical level.

A district official stated, "We judged that holding a festival during a national disaster situation is inappropriate, so we held an emergency meeting on the afternoon of the 28th and decided to cancel the cherry blossom festival."

Accordingly, all various experiential events scheduled from the opening ceremony on April 4 through the 8th have been canceled.

The district plans to provide guidance through resident notification texts and the district website to prevent confusion caused by the festival cancellation.

Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, "We extend our deepest condolences to the residents affected by the wildfire," and added, "Dobong-gu will actively cooperate to support the victims."

Since the 27th, the district has been operating a large-scale wildfire victims' joint memorial altar in the lobby on the first floor of Dobong-gu Office. The altar will be open until April 2, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Various support measures for the affected areas are also planned. The district intends to prepare and deliver 150 blankets and 200 lanterns to Yeongdeok-gun.
