Pusan National University Signs Global Cooperation MOU with US NGO 'The Seed of Hope Foundation'

Pusan National University (President Choi Jae-won) will sign an MOU with The Seed of Hope Foundation (SOH), a U.S.-based NGO, on the 17th at the university headquarters to promote academic and cultural exchanges and foster global cooperation with scholars, researchers, and students from major East Coast universities in the U.S., including Harvard University, and global companies.

This agreement signing is scheduled to take place during the visit of Rebekah Kim, the chaplain of Harvard University and CEO of The Seed of Hope Foundation, who has actively supported the upcoming academic and cultural exchange event to be held at Pusan National University in early June. The event will involve scholars, students, and researchers from prestigious East Coast universities such as Harvard and MIT, as well as global companies like Meta, MS, and Google.

The MOU aims to strengthen global cooperation between Pusan National University and SOH and to expand sustainable community development and research and educational exchanges. Through this, Pusan National University expects to establish a mutual international cooperation network and promote various collaborations such as joint research projects, serving as a milestone to further enhance the international competitiveness of education and research.

The Seed of Hope Foundation is a U.S.-based NGO established in Boston in 2012, dedicated to serving developing countries through various initiatives in health, education, and community development.

So far, Pusan National University and Rebekah Kim, the CEO of SOH and Harvard University chaplain, have been actively coordinating an academic and cultural exchange event titled "Global Connection Toward the Future," scheduled from May 31 to June 5 this year at Pusan National University, with over 200 American scholars, researchers, and students participating.

According to the agreement between the two institutions, scholars and students from prestigious East Coast universities such as Harvard University, MIT, Wellesley College, Boston University, Boston College, UPenn (University of Pennsylvania), Johns Hopkins, University of Maryland, Georgetown University, and outstanding researchers from global companies will visit Pusan National University in large numbers to engage in mutual exchange activities through symposiums and other events.

Pusan National University anticipates that cooperation with The Seed of Hope Foundation will not only activate higher education exchanges between the two institutions but also serve as a valuable opportunity to enhance its international status through exchanges with major East Coast universities and global companies.

President Choi Jae-won of Pusan National University stated, "Through this agreement, Pusan National University will expand its international network and further strengthen global cooperation. In particular, I am confident that this will lead to active exchanges with scholars, students, and researchers from prestigious East Coast universities and global companies, raising Pusan National University's international standing even higher. We will continue to expand the platform for global education and research cooperation to contribute to nurturing future talents and regional development."

Following the signing ceremony, CEO Rebekah Kim will deliver a special lecture titled "What do you see?" at the large auditorium on the 2nd floor of the Mechanical Engineering Building at Pusan National University. The lecture will cover topics such as how differences in perspectives on objects or phenomena can lead to different outcomes and why a paradigm shift is necessary and important.
